Team/division description As part of TME R&D organization, the Powertrain Division is responsible for local development of powertrains for vehicles built in one of the TME production plants and for planning and research of new European technologies. Latest focus points include electrification, big data and connectivity. Our team “Advanced Powertrain & Target Setting” is a research group within Powertrain covering xEV battery, E-motor, Power electronics, Charging strategy and other alternative Powertrains. Your project With increasing electrification, batteries play an increasingly important role in mobility and other areas. You will support to research the latest technology on battery cells and packs, as well as simulation of various use cases. Team/division description            Embedded in the R&D organisation, European Projects (EP) is in charge of development of local vehicles, coordinating the Innovation activities accross the organisation, and planning the Carbon Neutral transformation and Circular Economy. EP is the point where long term innovation meets market implementation. Your project During your internship you will support the established I&TM team in: - Follow up, summary and reporting of the dismantlability study of a Toyota vehcile. The purpose of the study is to assess competitiveness and any improvements required to comply with new End of life (ELV) regulation proposal. The focus will be on 19 category parts and key materials with special focus on Plastic parts. - Research on Design for Circularity (DfC) methodologies applicable to automotive industry and based on it, proposals to define a Circular Economy KPI to be used as reference for new parts design. This method is mostly based on machine learning and aim at remotely assessing the condition of the air conditioning refrigerant  gaz.Your role will be to define and gather necessary data in order to improve and expand an initial model as well as to proceed with the model improvement it-self.You will be part of a diverse team with competencies in mechanical engineering, model base development and data science. Particularly we examine topics which work towards reducing the environmental impact of our vehicles.
