Within TME R&D, the VPE – Vehicle UX team is responsible for ensuring a good overall UX (User Experience), by the HMI (Human-Machine Interaction) and Ergonomics (physical and cognitive) performance of vehicles, both during actual vehicle development and in research activities.

Your project

Interior storage is one of the performances taken care by our team.

This project aims to create a digital tool using AI, that would automatically calculate the storage performance of a vehicle, based on CAD data and on 3D scan of pre-defined objects.

The goal is to rapidly assess and find solutions to improve the storage performance during vehicle development.

To accomplish this goal, you will need to:

  • Assist on the 3D scan of defined objects,
  • Develop a tool to determine automatically in which storage areas each 3D-scanned object can fit (on CATIA),
  • Based on the above information, develop an AI algorithm that would calculate and determine the optimised combination considering that objects have different priority levels (as actual customers would do),
  • Create an appropriate user interface of the tool, and an easy-to-use step-by-step manual.

Your Profile

  • You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree (Engineering, Ergonomics, ...) and available for a fulltime internship of 6 months in Zaventem.
  • You have a strong interest in user experience, interior performance and ergonomics.
  • You have experience with or interest in CAD tools (CATIA V5 is a strong asset).
  • You have basic knowledge of or interest in data analysis, scripting or AI methods (e.g. Python).
  • You enjoy hands-on engineering work, testing, benchmarking and problem-solving.
  • You are comfortable working in English in an international, multicultural environment.
  • You are structured, curious and motivated to translate user needs into engineering solutions.

Starting date

  •  22nd of June 2026 (approximately)

Duration
