In a nutshell

This internship at Toyota Motor Europe focuses on environmental sustainability and circular economy initiatives within manufacturing plants across Europe. The role offers hands-on experience with industry environmental challenges, exposure to Toyota’s problem-solving methods, and collaboration in a multicultural team environment while contributing to more sustainable and responsible production processes.

Your team and your responsibilities

Team/division description

           

Plant & Environment Engineering is responsible for coordinating and supporting Toyota environmental activities across our manufacturing plants in Europe. We drive improvement in energy usage, CO2 emissions, water usage, waste production and other environmental impacts, as well as apply best practices to ensure legal compliance and minimize environmental risk, in line with our Environmental Policies and Mid-Long term strategies.

 

Your project

 

Following Toyota 2050 Environmental Challenge, our company is fully committed to decarbonize our production processes, minimize water consumption, establish a recycling-based society and run manufacturing plants in harmony with nature. We aim to develop a sustainable circular economy by transforming any single waste into a valuable resource to our process, through the implementation of the P/3R principles: Prevent first, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

You will have the unique opportunity to understand the industry-related environmental challenges and learn Toyota problem-solving method.

 

Your main goals will be to:

  • Coordinate ongoing waste reduction projects across the manufacturing plants,
  • Benchmark new technologies to reduce waste and get in touch with relevant stakeholders,
  • Enhance best practices sharing between manufacturing plants,
  • Support the team for other environmental activities, such as organizing events for the environmental month or upgrading the chemical management…

Your Profile

  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language), and having additional capabilities in French, Polish, Czech or Turkish languages would be an advantage.
  • You have successfully completed 2-3 years of chemical or environmental engineering.
  • You are driven by passion and you value innovation. You have good organisation skills, target-oriented and resilience to challenges.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and would like to experience daily work in a multicultural team.
  • You have good experience with MS tools (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint,…).
  • You hold a valid passport. A driving licence is an advantage.

 

Starting date: May 2026

 

Duration: 6 months

Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

 

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.

 

We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
