In a nutshell

Join Toyota Motor Europe’s internship to reduce road noise in hybrid and electric vehicles. You’ll optimize component assessments, validate findings using CAE software, and support physical updates. Focus on minimizing forces transmitted through suspension components, accelerating time-to-market, reducing CO2 emissions, and lowering costs

Company Information

TOYOTA is one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers and a leading global corporation. Founded in 1937. Toyota now sells vehicles in 170 countries and employs over 350.000 people. Based in Brussels, Belgium, and staffed by 2.700 people and more than 60 nationalities, Toyota Motor Europe (TME) handles the wholesale marketing of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, parts & accessories, and manages Toyota’s European R&D, manufacturing, and engineering operations.

We are excited to be transforming into a mobility company focusing on bringing even more happiness to our customers through various mobility solutions.

Your team and your responsibilities

TME R&D centre is responsible for planning, development and production support of vehicles aimed at - and locally produced for - the European market.

The “NV & Driveability” team is part of the Vehicle Performance Engineering division (VPE) division and is responsible for the vehicle NVH (Noise, Vibration and harshness) according to EU customer expectations. We aim at the development of attractive and “fun to drive” cars matching European market requirements and customer expectations. Using state-of-the art experimental and numerical methods, we develop strategies to achieve the targets and validate them on virtual and physical prototypes.

You will contribute to an ongoing research project where the main goal is to build a detailed understanding of the different modes along the road noise path, how they contribute to the force transmission, and how they can be controlled through specific properties of the components involved. You will:

  • Optimize the existing procedures for component/subassembly mode assessment.
  • Validate findings and support component/subassembly development through CAE software.
  • Confirm findings by physical component/subassembly updates.

Your Profile

You are pursuing your master’s in mechanical or automotive engineering, with a strong interest in cars and sound/acoustics. You have a background in structural dynamics (including modal analysis) and acoustics; knowledge of Noise & vibration testing (Testlab) and simulation (Nastran) is an important plus. You have some affinity with mathematical and physical modelling, and scientific scripting in Matlab or Python. You have a good English capability, and you are eager to work in a multi-cultural environment.

We offer

We offer a dynamic multicultural work environment with broad opportunities to learn every day and exciting career pathways that help you explore different disciplines or areas of expertise.
