Your team and your responsibilities

Team/division description

           

Vehicle Performance Engineering division

Our mission is to ensure that Toyota vehicles deliver a unique mobility experience for European customers. By leveraging ever-better methods, data-driven insights, and human-centric approaches, we establish competitive targets and optimize performance.

 

ADAS – UX team

Our mission is to secure highly competitive, inspirational ADAS/AD products that exceed future user expectations. Our scope includes evaluating and enhancing ADAS systems for European drivers, conducting user research, and developing innovative concepts.

 

Your project

 

This internship leverages AI to develop algorithms for driver attention and emotion, enhancing ADAS-UX and meeting E-NCAP guidelines. The main tasks include:

 

  • Research cutting-edge AI methods for detecting driver attention and emotion
  • Develop innovative algorithms to meet E-NCAP guidelines and enhance UX insights by estimating emotional states like frustration, confusion, and delight
  • Optimize models using simulation and virtual tools for ADAS-UX applications
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure impactful, versatile solutions

 

Your Profile

  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
  • You are a Master student in Engineering, specializing in AI or Data Science
  • You have demonstrated programming skills in MATLAB or Python
  • You have demonstrated experience with machine learning, computer vision, or related AI techniques
  • You have a strong interest in AI-driven human sensing algorithms and their application in vehicle safety systems
  • You are a team player and have excellent organisation skills

 

Starting date

  •  Between April and June 2025 

Duration

  •  6 months

Confidentiality

Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

 

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.

 

We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
