Your team and your responsibilities

Team/division description

           

Toyota Motor Europe R&D Centre is responsible for:

  • Developing vehicles and making concept proposals for European core models.
  • Reflecting EU technologies to Toyota vehicles timely by utilizing strong network with European partners.

 

The Material Engineering division (MED) is part of the R&D group at Toyota Motor Europe Technical Center in Zaventem, Belgium. By utilization of wide and deep material knowledge as well as evaluation & analysis capability, its mission is to conduct research, to develop and to introduce attractive & environment-friendly materials.

 

The Material Engineering 2 department in MED is responsible for advanced material research for quantum sensor and materials, carbon neutrality, hydrogen economy and new clean mobility.

 

Your project

We are looking for an intern to support our next generation fuel cell technology development, focusing on evaluating innovative materials for the core components of the fuel cell such as the proton exchange membrane. You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting various tests on material and component level
  • MEA manufacturing and performance validation using our fuel cell test bench
  • Implementation of new test protocols
  • Assess and confirm the feasibility of the technology
  • Identify technology gaps and issues, suggest solutions and improvement

Your Profile

  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
  • Master student in final year (preferably: Chemical / Electrochemical / Materials Engineering)
  • Good knowledge in electrochemistry and material science
  • Flexible team player
  • Open personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality
  • Basic computer skills: (MS Office and database)

  •  April/May 2024

Duration

  •  6 months

Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

 

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.

 

We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
